How you feel today, tomorrow or in the future heavily depends on the food choices you make every day. Having a good nutritional habit is a vital requirement when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. When combined with physical activity, your diet caters the ability to allow healthy weight, reduction in risk of chronic diseases and promotion of overall health.

Proteins, carbohydrates and fats are the main factors behind the build-up of energy. After ingestion, carbohydrates get broken down into glucose, providing raw energy that is used either immediately or stored for later use in the muscles. Complex carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables and fruits) are sets that provide a balance of calories and nutrients, whereas simple carbs (sugar and white flour) are sets high in calories and low in nutrients, leaving them as a poor choice for energy production.
Hence it is important to choose and eat food that contain a balance of calories and nutrients. This will help provide all the necessary fuels that is needed by our body to function correctly while avoiding weight gain.
Diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer are said to be directly linked with a poor diet. Atherosclerosis is known to be caused by trans and saturated fats, acting as a major catalyst for heart attack and stroke. Foods that contain a high amount of Cholesterol can raise levels of bad cholesterol in blood, triggering the arterial damage witnessed in atherosclerosis.
According to the American Cancer Society, processed and fried meats and alcohol are associated with an increased risk for certain types of cancer (such as cancer of the colon or liver).
